Profile
of SIRI - Italian Robotics and Automation Association
SIRI, the Italian Robotics and Automation Association, was founded
in 1975 as a non-profit cultural association with the aim of standing forward
as a round-table for people and organisations interested in the investigation
and developement of topics related to robotics and its applications.
Members of SIRI include research bodies, universities, manufacturers,
integrators and importers operating in the robotics area. This enables
the association to promote relations and exchanges of information and ideas
among research, industry and users.
SIRI works in close cooperation with the Edizioni Fiera Milano publishing
house and with UCIMU - SISTEMI PER PRODURRE
(Machinery Italian Builders Union), the organisation of Italian machine
tools manufacturers. The links between SIRI and
Jackson are
enabled through the journal Rivista di Meccanica Oggi, that gives
far-reaching publicity to all initiatives and to information coming in
from affiliated members. UCIMU is the direct line with the world
of industry and provides the tools for market surveys.
The organisational structure of SIRI gives to distinguished
members a broad base for participation through the Board of Directors,
elected every two years by the Members' General Meeting and through the
subdivision into several groups sharing identical interests (manufacturers,
integrators, researchers, users, component providers and engineering companies).
SIRI is a member of IFR (the
International Federation of Robotics ), the umbrella organisation
for robotics associations in the most industrialised countries. Its affiliation
to IFR provides SIRI with continuous and significant contacts
with other countries, enabling them all to share the most relevant events
and trends.
Standing as a highly-qualified forum for suppliers, academic world
and users of robotised systems, SIRI's aim is to promote and disseminate
information and news through a number of activities:
the organisation and sponsorship
of congresses, seminars, conferences and workshops with the aim of spreading
information and developing the professional growth of people working in
the field of robotics
the promotion of studies
and surveys aimed at acquiring knowledge of the technical, social and economic
problems involved in robotics and its applications
the collection and the
processing of statistical data on the production and consumption
of robots in Italy, with the cooperation of UCIMU
the promotion and sponsorship
of educational courses for students and vocational training courses for
people working in the area
the promotion and sponsorship
of publications on robotics and its applications.
Currently, SIRI has about 250 members, including manufacturers, user companies,
research institutes, user companies and individuals..
Membership designations are as follows:
individual member
researcher member (University
Faculties, Schools, Technical Institutes, Research Centres and so on)
collective user member
( companies, industrial organisations and so on)
collective manufacturer
and/or integrator member (companies, robot manufacturers and so on)
system integrators
